The Q

Originally used as a storage barge for the maintenance of surrounding houseboats and docks, this 416 SF houseboat was repurposed into a studio with a makeshift rooftop deck. The strict height limit didnt allow for an additional floor, so the design took advantage of the small footprint to provide an efficient living space filled with light by adding large windows and a clerestory in a vaulted ceiling. The vaulted area doubles as a built-in bench on the upgraded roof deck. The landing for the new stair access to the roof deck also doubles as a diving platform.
