Progress at the Prairie House
10.21.17
Deep overhangs and wrap around porches are unique attributes of traditional Prairie Houses. This project is a contemporary adaptation of that design in Seattle’s Central District neighborhood.
We stopped by last week to gaze at the overhangs and territorial views before the home enters the final stages of construction.
The overhangs are inspired by traditional Japanese architecture.
The overhangs also act as added protection from the elements and provide shade to the deck.
The overhangs extend outside of the home’s primary footprint.
