Located in a mall in Moscow, Idaho, the Citizen team transformed an old Sears department store into a community gathering place for Real Life church.
The building, originally designed for retail, had to be reworked from floor to ceiling to accommodate the needs of the new tenants including a sanctuary, auditorium, classrooms, offices, bookstore, and a coffee bar.
The architecture of the space was inspired by Moscow’s Palouse rolling hills and captures the variety of textures and colors seen in the landscape. Local wood details add warmth to the interior. The garage doors provided flexibility to open up the spaces for large gatherings or closed spaces for more privacy.
